Project

2010 marked a significant year for Rick Hansen and the Rick Hansen Foundation beginning in February with Hansen’s involvement in the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and then in March with the beginning of the 25th Anniversary of the epic Man In Motion World Tour.

 

As lead Account Director with Edelman, we were contracted to deliver a comprehensive communications strategy, creation of an interactive website and implementation of a proactive media relations activities throughout the Games. Pivotal to all communications activities was the website allowing visitors to experience Rick Hansen’s story through never-before seen photography, video and blog. 

Result

The creative married a clean design with user-friendly functionality and delivered a structure that allowed the Foundation to organize their rich media resources to share Hansen's extensive history in compelling, new ways. In addition to incorporating social media tools like Flickr and YouTube, the website became a platform for the new Rick Hansen Foundation blog.

 

Media relations efforts resulted in extensive national and international media coverage for Rick and the Foundation throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games including a partnership with CTV, post-Games exclusive with CBC's Peter Mansbridge and significant print coverage with International outlets.
